Introduction and LAJ’s Musical Journey
LAJ – A Friendly and Vibrant Superstar
“LAJ is unarguably one of the most FRIENDLY and VIVACIOUS superstars in the history of Sierra Leone’s entertainment industry. From a distance, I have been an admirer of the CEO and Founder of Red Flag Music (RFM). I started following his musical journey since 2009 when he broke the ceiling with two of his songs, “Pap na Morning” and the remix of “Money na Bank” featuring other big superstars like Pupa Bajah of Dry Yei Crew, Shadow Boxer, Amb. Kao Denero of Black Leo, and many more. LAJ’s “Money Na Bank” became a big hit across the country, and his popularity grew even more when he returned to Sierra Leone and generously threw money at his fans.”
LAJ’s Influence and Connection with the Street
Style, Cliques, and Connection with the Street
“LAJ’s sense of style attracted many young people, especially women. Just as his music, his fashion sense made him popular among the youth. He arrived in Sierra Leone at a time when different cliques were in conflict, with some representing the color red as “Members of Blood” (MOB) and others representing blue as “St Cost Crips.” Although LAJ was embraced by many youths, he was more connected to the members of the red clique. He was known for his friendly nature and developed a close relationship with the streets. LAJ brought a revolution not just to the music field but to the entire entertainment industry. His music videos set high standards, and he portrayed a luxurious superstar lifestyle.”
Personal Encounter with LAJ
A Dream Come True and Collaborative Spirit
“In my personal encounter with LAJ, I had the opportunity to meet him at a studio where I was on probation. To my surprise, he was there to listen to some of his songs that the engineer had worked on for him. It felt like a dream come true to see him in the same studio where I recorded. He greeted me humorously, and after listening to a few of my songs, he gave me a thumbs up. Another encounter with LAJ occurred when the Mamz Beach Bar was established. A close acquaintance and I frequented the bar, and when we needed a headline artist for a show in Kono, someone suggested LAJ. Our team member reached out to him, and he agreed to join us for the show without any financial demands. He actively promoted the event and arrived on time to perform, leaving peacefully the next morning.”
Birthday Celebration and Plea for Mercy
LAJ’s Birthday and Industry Support
“Today, LAJ is celebrating his birthday, but unfortunately, he is unable to celebrate it with us. Some people claim he would have been free to enjoy his liberty if he had not followed the wrong company. I strongly disagree with such statements. It is important for our industry to understand that during difficult times involving any entertainer, we should support them instead of highlighting their weaknesses. I will continue to plea to the President for mercy on behalf of our very own LAJ.”
